Cruisin’ to the Square set for Thursday

A wide variety of cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors, along with vehicle enthusiasts, will be on Jefferson’s historic downtown square for Cruisin’ to the Square Thursday, Aug. 14, from 4:30 to 7 pm.

There is no registration fee and day-of registration is available. Prizes will be awarded in several categories – best car, best truck, best motorcycle, best tractor, best paint, best engine, best interior, most likely to get a ticket, and best original/unrestored.

Jefferson Matters will serve a grilled picnic supper at a cost. A poker walk will also take place around the square.

In preparation for Cruisin’ to the Square, several downtown streets will be closed starting at 1 pm Thursday. Wilson Ave and Chestnut St will be closed from the alleys one-half block north of the square to the alleys one-half block south of the square. Similarly, State St and Lincoln Way will be closed from the alleys one-half block east of the square to the alleys one-half block west of the square.
